Hello all. I had the privilege of coming across these stunning Walnut Shell Cordovan Daltons in size 8D. Only worn once. Sadly not my size. These are not made by AE anymore and I currently have it on eBay for a "can't refuse" price. I'd be happy to offer it to a fellow SF member at $650 inclusive of shipping in the CONUS. These are thirds (marked no warranty) but besides the minor creases and one very minor spot shown in the pictures in the link there are no defects I could find.

Will set up a listing in B&S soon but wanted to offer them up here first. Purchase would be as a PayPal transaction payment, not friends and family and will only ship to the confirmed address. PM me if you have any questions. Detailed picture in link

Those are beautiful, although maybe third quality?

If yes,
The "No warranty" stamp should be mentioned along with only worn once.

These are first quality. Marked no warranty to prevent in store returns. These were originally pruchased from dabondo1, the AE reseller on eBay and all his shoes have this mark.

These would actually be considered thirds, not first quality. Beautiful boots... nonetheless.

The no warranty is marked by AE before they sell/distribute these 3rds to someone like dabondo. It also means AE is not responsible for replacing or fixing them should they have issues. It also means they take no responsibility should they fail during recrafting. I'm not sure what dabondo1 sold them for but his shell is usually ~400. Someone here snagged a pair of boots from him but I can't remember what offer he accepted. It kinda looks like one boot is taller than the other but that could just be photos playing depth tricks on my eyes. They appear to be 1st quality that a customer wore enough to develop minor markings then decided didn't fit or whatever the case was. Frankly I think AE is too nice in accepting shoes like this back due to fit unless there was some kind of interior structure problem. Gorgeous pair of shoes there.

Thanks for the info. Originally bought these for my brother in law (8.5 in the 5 last) but they are small. I'm a reseller myself so I'm trying to eventually sell at fair market, not what I paid for them. Apologies if that's frowned upon in the thread.

I could be wrong but those look like plain wholecuts though the carlyle would give you a similar look. I'd really love AE to bring back a wholecut with no perfs, brogueing, medallion, nothing. If they did I'd buy them instantly. I'll be in NY in a few months and I plan on going over to C&J to try on their plain wholecut so I can then order it from UK since NY store is not well priced vs mailorder.

I agree that the particular photo is sort of tricky on the eye (I would probably not have thought it was a Carlyle if I saw that photo alone), but I can confirm these are Carlyle. In fact, the blog it is taken from is one of the blogs that kicked me in the butt about 9 months ago and made me realize I needed to update my entire shoe collection to items more timeless and higher quality. Her name is Ashley Weston and she is a celebrity stylist. Surprisingly, she is an Allen Edmonds evangelist and praises high quality footwear. She's one of the main reasons I jumped to AE.

Anyway, here's her Oxford Dress Shoe article, will certainly not be anything overly beneficial to anyone here, but a good article to pass to friends who haven't seen the bright side yet and own square toed shoes!

I've read her article before (that dude with the brown Carlyle has a very high instep). Anyway, I totally agree with her that I see a lot of these (on the right) and I just don't understand why so many men buy this design. It looks horrible in my opinion. You could find a pair of Rockports that will look way better than this for about the same price. That style on the right doesn't even look like a real shoe.

I've highlighted the relevant part. Your opinion doesn't drive sales.

I call those the Abe Lincoln. That looks like the shoe he's wearing at the Lincoln Monument! LOL

True. I certainly don't want to come off as a snob or anything. I just fail to see why that design on the right is so attractive to so many men. I see that shoe way more than just about everything else.

I didn't mean to come off as overly aggressive, so hopefully you didn't take it that way.

A lot of guys don't know better, and maybe were told by a store employee (I'm hesitant to call the folks at DSW or whatever shoe salespeople) that these are the hot style. I certainly didn't know any better when I bought my first pair of dress shoes. Those weren't quite that square, but they certainly weren't good shoes.

No offense taken -- I understood what you meant. And yeah, my first shoes were... well, bad.

PSA: If anyone is still interested in the Overlord, there are now a lot of them in brown on the AE site (not sure why). Meanwhile, the Higgins Mill is extremely low in stock at the CAC.
