These look SO good.

Question to all:

How crazy am I for wanting the Higgins Mill in natural even though I already own them in brown? Scale of 1 to 10.

To answer this seriously, I think it depends on how often you're going to wear them. If you dress casually most days, and wear casual boots multiple time per week, then having two of the same boot in different colors isn't crazy at all. If you only wear them a couple of time per month, it's a little bit crazy -- but the level of crazy would have to be judged in relation to the total size of your shoe collection and whether or not you passed up something you could have used more in order to get the second pair of HM.

Seriously though, I've been thinking the exact same thing. HMs are just so versatile that they would both see a lot of use.

Thank you, I'm a big fan myself. You do seem to be needing to add some more boots in your rotation but I'd recommend opting for a different pair so that you have more versatility/variety.

If I was offered to trade my Liverpools, Dundees, Daltons, or First Aves for a second pair of HMs, I would not accept.

Liverpools are in. Trying to decide if I can pull them off with a suit! I just don't know. especially since I wear my pants pretty slim. These do look amazing with jeans but I've got enough shoes to wear with jeans.

What I really want is a Dark Brown Carlyle as the next shoe in my collection...but sadly there are none in 11.5B in the shoebank.

There are a few Chili pairs though...thoughts on formality/versatility difference between Chili and Burnished Brown?

And also, should I keep the Liverpools? :)

Keep the Liverpools.
Do you have a formal shoe in brown? If so, grab the chili. It's darker than the old chili, and looks pretty good on a formal shoe. Personally, I'd choose it over the brown.

I will post a picture of my collection tonight which does not include a formal shoe in brown. There is a non-AE Blucher in my collection that I think may be very close to the darker Chili, which is what makes me hesitant...but you may know best since you own a pair.

Thanks!

Those are sweet boots, they definitely pop. I think a purist would object to pairing the chelsea boot with a suit but 99% of people will not care. Personally I would not wear the tan with such a dark suit though. If you can find middle ground between jeans and suit, that would seem to be the Liverpool's wheelhouse (khaki's, wool tweed or flannel, etc.).

OK wore the HM 13 hours today 11.5 standing, remember this is a new boot never worn so not broken in.

I have to say no complaints amazing boot total comfort all day even as new boots.

So if they are this good new unbroken in I can only imagine what are like after several times wearing.

Also no issue with the tongue all day the stiff leather sown to the tongue held it in place did not move all day. Maybe this is an upgrade as I have seen others complain about slip to the side.

So tempted to buy another pair in a diff color.

Not crazy at all. I've got the brown HM as well and I find myself eyeballing the natural version. Instead, though, I think I'm going to hold off and grab a pair of natural Academy shoes when the time comes. Same kind of look, just in a blucher instead of a boot.

But, yeah, seeing the natty HM seconds for $189 is making my wallet nervous.

Sorry to hear they didn't work out.

If it makes you feel better, your suggestion to check shoebank earlier enabled me to get a pair from the Maine store. The SA said they were a great looking pair without any obvious flaws. I was so excited buying my first pair of shell that I was easily talked in to getting the cordovan creme, lol. I hope they are as good as she says!

I also got shoe trees, since they are $12.50 when buying more than one - I needed two.

Now I need to read up some more on how to care for shell!
