I have had pretty good success with Ebay auctions by contacting the seller, before any bids have been placed, and asking if he would take a fixed price. They then change their ad to a best offer and I make the offer we agreed to. But this can't be done once a bid has been submitted. Just food for thought.
Fortunately, my Ebay surfing today landed me some vintage Florsheim long wings made in the US in 1967. Looking forward to some cleanup touches and use. I find they are a touch smaller than the Barrie last. These are off topic, but perhaps some will appreciate them.
Ok Collectors, what is the norm on the sizing of the Aberdeen last? I have a 12D and it seems a touch big in the heel but great in length. Is it up a width and down a half size or down a width and up half size?

i thrifted these world war one shell cordovan shin guards today.
i realize it's not alden related, but figured some may be interested.
i've watched enough antique road show to know not to mess with the patina. i just wiped them down with a dry t-shirt and plan to condition them soon.
solo is pointing out a couple of dents, noteworthy because these things are hard as a rock. pictured next to light cigar bals and 20+ year old faded #8 bals for color reference.
thanks. the straps show shell rolls, some cracking, but no calf creasing. and.... i could tell they were shell from 20 feet away, i floated above ground to grab them before someone else did. These are incredible. How do you know for sure they are shell?
They look like it. Maybe if an Alden Shop has a Black Friday deal you could wear these to protect your shins from a blood thirsty mob of Alden fans...
