Frans Boone Parajumpers today.

Saw a post on reddit where a guy had Alden recraft his leather soled boots onto a commando sole. I was under the impression this was not an option. Anyone know anything about this? I'd love to switch these boots onto commando when I wear through the leather sole.

I'm not sure that I've seen a nicer color 8 Boot than this. Grant last, minimalist design, dark edges, and some brass to add a little 'edge' to them. And the color is great. I'd have a topy added and keep moving. No way I'd commando those.

Willing to put my money where my mouth is. Anyone with a pair laying around collecting dust, see my signature and send me a PM.

I am curious as to everyone's opinion here on the following:

There is a poster on IG named imaunit who used a white Prismacolor pencil to color his #8 shell tankers stitching white.

I liked how it looked so much it has likely pushed me over the edge to buy a pair and do the same. I've always felt that shell(even on TB) is a bit too dressy for jeans but the white stitching, in my eyes anyhow, drops the boots down to even more casual.

But I'm curious if you all see it the same way or find it "blasphemous".

Thanks!

Looks great. Shell on TruBalance w/ jeans is great.

I find that the color comes off of the hand stitching really quickly, usually within a couple of weeks of wearing and brushing. They're not purple threads, but rather white threads that have a little purple dye on them from when Alden dyes the shoes at the end of the process.

The second/"after" picture is not loading for me. It just shows an error message. Anyone else?

Good to know...

But it may not get as white as a lead Prismacolor pencil.

So do you think the same thread lightening will hold true for the Navy Chamois tankers I recently received? The threads appear to be Navy threads but could be Navy dye.

Although I don't find myself thinking about brushing the chamois.

I'd just let the character emerge with the thread. If it doesn't happen, you can always try it the other way.

My friend, that is not blasphemous to do. I personally, as others mentioned, would not do it as Alden uses white thread on their Color 8 and Black Shell makeups and with a little bit of brushing, the natural color of the thread will come out. But if you want it today, then definitely feel free to do this.
