I'd think the track record of these "We will not do X" or "We have no current plans for X" speaks for itself. They aren't true very often. And if they DO happen to be true, it has nothing to do with what the president of the company, or some division-head behind a podium says.
How are they not true very often? It's hit or miss. That's how corporations deal with rumors. They say "no plans at this time," or "no comment," and they're true more often than they're false. My information comes from two articles: one where there was some speculation and rumoring coming out because Microsoft cancelled on some HD DVD press conference after this announcement, and then MS squashing the rumors that they would implement BD for X360. You can take my statement for what its worth (a corporate jerkoff in a press conference). Did I say MS won't do it? No. I said that they *announced* they wouldn't do it. I'm aware that a lot of times companies will keep big announcements completely under-wraps and even lie about them beforehand. The fact that you come out foaming at the mouth into these discussions calling people idiots is what makes your argument inane and irrelevant.

Not when it comes to gaming consoles. Have you not been paying attention? We have no current plans to drop the price of the PS3/Xbox360 Rumble is last gen, Sony has no current plans to make a rumble controller. Rumble will not work with the tilt sensor. Here at Nintendo, we are serious about an online gaming experience. You will be able to enjoy every Xbox Live compatible online game we release, without a HDD. Multiple SKU's are confusing for the customer, we don't know why Microsoft has chosen to do it this way with the Xbox360, and I am telling you that we won't do it this way with the PS3... shall I continue? I can come up with these indefinitely.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't your biggest gripe about the PS3 at launch the exact opposite of what you are telling me now?

Did I say that they were doing it or not doing it? I was reminding everyone reading your comment that frequently MS, Sony, and Nintendo engage in subterfuge, change their minds as new options become viable or available, or outright LIE to protect their interests. Don't take what you hear from the corporate mouthpiece with anything more than a grain of salt. I read the same two sources, and I can tell you right now that the responses aren't worth any more than the rumors that prompted them.

Foaming at the mouth? STFU. I call it like I see it. I never called YOU an idiot, unless you believe everything you hear from company press conferences. I figured you had more sense than that. Then again, the last time you posted something like this - the corporate denial about the immenent PS3 price drop I posted a few months ago - you were wrong... so maybe I'm striking a nerve here.

Contrast effect - you notice the lies more than the truths.

Not sure what you mean. My biggest gripe with PS3 has always been the lack of good software (which is getting much better, but still no where near X360).

Whatever dude. If you posted, "Nintendo announced they have no plans to release God of War games on the Wii," and I said "only idiots listen... blah blah" it would be pretty obvious what the subtext of my statement was.

I wish both formats would die a horrible, fiery death. They're pointless as long as they both continue to lack compelling content.

What are you expecting them to release Ghost Dog on blu-ray or something? Most of my favorite movies are recorded on lower quality equipment and thus wouldn't really belong on BD or HD-DVD, I assume yours is similar.

Don't fault the medium for that. I am personally not an adopter of either, despite having a PS3 I dont have a single BD movie because I haven't seen a single one I'd want to buy.

Well I certainly wouldn't be crying about it. I'd probably agree with you. Except, I would have prequalified my original statement with "Only an idiot would believe this, but Nintendo announced... etc."

Please feel free to post any counter evidence you can find.

Perhaps I have you mistaken for someone else. Someone around here was all butt hurt because Sony didn't keep many of its pre-release promises (Other than it would be "expensive")... I am pretty sure that the same person is a Nintendo fanboy, even though Nintendo has done exactly the same thing and worse in the past.

Well, the PS3 is a piece of shit. Also, your holiday sales upswing predictions were off the mark. It's OK, Sony always has holiday 2008!

How so? PS3 sales have overtaken the X360 in the same time-frame this holiday season.

First of all, I'm just egging you on. I haven't read the thread up until this point. I like my PS3 ( I love the remote play via PSP). However, I still think the system will end up in third place. The system sellers aren't coming out until two years in, the sell-through comparison doesn't work because PS3 has to play catch-up and the third-parties are not going to spend the massive amounts of money required to put compelling software on the thing when the user-base isn't there. Besides Sega; they seem pretty obstinate but that's fine as the Yakuza 3 demo was amazing and Valkyrie of the Battlefield also looks to be great. But anyway, carry on.
