Hello,
is the J. Crew bag still available?

Hi, I am interested by your J Crew Artisan Leather Messenger.

Well, it looks like a long shot now, but I want the J. Crew messenger bag, too. If deals above me fall through, I'll take it.

My PC won't let me send PM for some inexplicable reason, so I'm reviving this old thread for a question to Arethusa.

I'm thinking about buying (elsewhere, of course...) that nice J Crew artisan messenger bag. I am concerned about one thing, though. I used to own a Coach not unlike this one, and it had this annoying behavior of folding at the top when hung from the shoulder, especially when it was near empty or too heavily loaded, so that quickly a permanent crease developed. The crease itself I didn't really mind, but what I couldn't stand was that the bag looked twisted and stretched in a really awkward way whenever I slung it over the shoulder.

The question I want to ask you is: does this bag hold its shape in a pleasing manner at all time--when it's empty, when it's full, when it's slung over the soulder or across the chest? It looks very handsome in the photo, but does it look as handsome on a person?

^I think this is a problem with most leather messenger bags; they bend or crease around the body. If you had a briefcase/hard sided type case, it wouldn't, but in general a messenger bag is supposed to soften over time and "mold" to the body of the wearer.

So, pretty much any leather bag will have the crease in it. If it is bothersome to you, then probably either a briefcase bag with a shoulder strap OR a canvas/textile bag might be best.
