How often does Ebay waive insertion fees?

I'm a pretty regular buyer on Ebay but have never sold anything. I have a few things here I plan on selling and know from time to time they have free listing periods. How often do these come around? If one is coming soon I'll probably just wait otherwise I'll probably just go ahead and cough up the few extra bucks to list. Any of you Ebay experts out there know? Thanks.

Rarely...probably not worth waiting for. Occasionally, they just do promotions like free gallery, etc.

I've been selling on ebay for quite a few years now. They don't have set dates for promotions but I say about once every month or two. I list on ebay.ca and they just had a 10cents listing yesterday. If you're new to selling, they sometimes have the 5 free listing for new sellers so you can probably take advantage of that. Oh and read the details of the promotion too, they usually have a bunch of criterias to follow.

Not very often. (a few times a year). Besides, they just had two promotions around the Christmas - One before the holiday for $0.20 insertion fee and one after the holidays for $.10 insertion fee.

I heard things listed on free / cheap listing days go for less as there is more supply compared to the standard level of demand.
