Gentlemen, as we approach the end of another year I have been thinking about all the great Friday Challenges of 2016 and, given the nature of the internet, how quickly those fantastic images are lost in the mists of time.

I know some people may X-post to WAYWRN and that they may in turn feature in the 25 thumb composite thread but some will not.

So, I have been thinking about starting a thread like this to celebrate some of the great FC entries. 'Best of' is a subjective idea, I know, and I shall start with picking the top 3 entries from each FC and see where that leads us....

Looking back, the first Challenge of 2016 was the 'Odd Vest' of 15 January. Organised by @Tom Miler , it was won by @upr_crust .

The Odd Vest Challenge 15 January 2016:

Winner @upr_crust

Second @Andy57

Third @EFV and @Tom Miler

And the final Challenge for January 2016, the 29th was organised by @Andy57

It was won by @EFV with @Tom Miler and @upr_crust in the next two places.

In The Pink Revisited:

Winner - @EFV

Second place - a thoughtful @Tom Miler

Third place - the very consistent upr_

Let's move on to February and the FC of the 5th - the The Green Jacket challenge.

Organised by @EFV and with two joint-winners @justkwan and @RogerP on 20 votes each!

I wondered how we regard the lower places when we have a joint winner or joint second, etc. Here I was assuming the next placed man was third - @Gerry Nelson on 13 votes. But, looking at the Challenge again I see reference to @Anden and @Cleav as being on the podium - they both got 11 votes. So I shall adopt that more inclusive approach.

@justkwan was in charge of the next Challenge on 12 February 2016.

Checks

Clear winner @Cleav

@Tom Miler expecting rain in second place this week

@justkwan again on the podium in third

Moving on to 19 February 2016 and a very close-run finish. Organised by @Cleav and won by @Gerry Nelson on 15 votes with @Anden second on 14 and @PCK1 and @Cleav joint third on 12.

Moving on to the 26th and a very similar voting pattern for a similar Challenge - The Brown Tie.

Big-hitters Anden, Cleav and Gerry were up there again but a maiden win for Diplomatic Ties.

@DiplomaticTies - winner

@Anden in a joint second place. He still gets a kick out of FCs!

@Gerry Nelson in joint second

@ammanati in joint third

And @Cleav

When asked how he felt about his first FC win DT replied:

Well, I am going to have a little break before tackling spring or autumn - depending on your location - but just before that I may put up one or two of my favourites that didn't make the cut in Jan / Feb.

Thanks again to @Mr Knightley for taking this on.

Now that this thread has been established it occurs to me that it would be useful to periodically update it as new challenges occur — not unlike the WAYWRN 25+ thread, which has become a very useful resource.

Relatedly, I think it would be useful to extend it to pre-2016 challenges as well.

In any event, good job Mr. K.

Cheers,

Ac
