My Skull 5010XX 6x6 raw lost 2" in the inseam when I did a 2 hour hotsoak.. and was pretty sure they're sanforized, so I would say a soak would be a good idea before getting any alterations done..

Why would people put jeans in the dryer?
My apc ns most definitely shrunk in the dryer. Whether they are supposed to or not they did. The inseam length does not stretch back out either like the jeans do everywhere else. (although I suppose tugging on the legs while wet could work)I left around 1 inch for cuffing before soak/drying and after I have maybe a 1/2" break and no chance of cuffing.

All jeans will shrink in the dryer. They are made of cotton. Don't do it!

I just called Stel's where I recently bought APC and had them altered. Consistent with J, they said don't put in the dryer and I should be fine.

This is why I am doing it before hemming.

Blue in Green lists the 5010XX 6x6 as being available either Raw or One Wash. Its fairly safe to assume that the existence of a one wash means that the raw is unsanforized, because there'd be no reason to one wash a sanforized denim.

It's going to change the fit of them, but they're yours, do what you want...

I ALWAYS wash and dry my jeans once before hemming.

Cool by me, like I said they are yours. I just don't get going to the trouble of finding a pair that fits right then throwing them in the dryer to get all distorted and possibly set bad creases.

If they are normal overwashed mall brand jeans I guess that's fine, it probably won't have much effect. For the majority we discuss here I can't imagine doing it.

I do it because inevitably, my jeans will get tossed in the washer/dryer by accident. I have two pairs that barely cover my ankles.

skulls are in fact sanforized... but its a "soft" sanforization that shrinks a bit more than regular sanforized jeans

I stand corrected, sorry :P Guess I should have checked up on that a bit more.

My new jean is Citizen of Humanity, cannot remember the model name. Anyway, I took the jean out from the dryer and tried it on last night. The jean fitted fine, I do not see any shrinkage what so ever. I was going to soak the jean again in warm water, but I felt like that would be over doing of something unnecessary. The jean will be going to tailor for hemming soon!

So A.P.C.'s are unsanforized?
