Just received my nialma shirt...two things I am very happy about.

1. The shirt is great, the fabric even better than it looks on the site.

2. They gave me a refund - they apparently have dropped their prices to an even figure for all their current fabrics - at $90.00 this is a seriously good shirt.

I will put in a follow-up order for a few more for sure. It only took 8 days as well.

As you can tell I am quite happy...first time I have bought online. I really recommend people check it out - nialma.com.

Thanks for everyone's advice...

Did I miss something? www.nialma.com - I don't see any descriptions of the various collar styles. Some seem similar enough via the line drawings I don't understand the differences.

I think there is no loyalty in online MTM because it is not a branded product. So your almost buying the shirt as a commodity, like a dozen eggs or a quart of milk. So your always looking for cheaper or better.

I think clients are loyal when they have rapport with a specific tailor, and the service and knowledge is shared. Or if the customer feels they can identify with a specific brand/fashion house. With online MTM you get neither.

Oh, I will continue to buy from Chan. But variety is the spice of life. Especially if Hillhouse Tailors can take the Chan shirt and size and replicate it at a fraction of the cost.

Can we get some more details? Are the buttons mother of pearl? Do they use french seams or double needle seams? Do they pattern match on the sleevehead, etc.? Thanks.

you realize that something will suffer for the fraction of the price.
Cheaper fusings that will either shrink or feel boardy. Bad buttons.
Chinese made fabrics that feel rough.

It will be a an annoying experiment! that will cost time and money.

Let's say the shirts don't fit you appropriately. What do you do? Just bring it into your tailor?

If you can find a nice shirt (Fray, Brioni, Corneliani) on sale for 65 or so and spend 15 to tailor it in, what's the point of going with an online MTM that you would possibly still have to spend 15 to tailor?

Sport shopping / bargain hunting is not for everyone.

This is true. I agree with you. Sometimes it is just easier to find items like the basics when you're not bargain hunting. But assuming you wanted a plain white shirt without any fancy embellishments, would MTM still win?

You won't find plain white nice shirts for $65 on sale. They sell out first and you are left with unattractive patterns.

^ True. haganah, where do you find plain white Brioni shirts for $65? That's some edmorel-like stuff.

One year I happened by chance to stop by Syd Jerome in chicago when they had a sale. I picked up a lot of fray/brioni shirts in my size including a couple of white ones. Of course the white ones will probably need replacements soon. It is difficult to find the basics on sale but I have found many beautiful patterns on sale from places like Saks. Today I am wearing an RLBL shirt that I got at a discount and even with this "slim" shirt I had it tailored in for my body. If i am going to have to tailor a shirt no matter the source, I don't know why I'd be motivated to do MTM. Perhaps I'm just built weird and for others this is not the case.

I've had shirts made by places like Jantzen, and while I can't speak as to the quality of the fabric since I don't own any truly nice shirts with which to compare, the fit on these is quite nice and I didn't need to take them in for any tailoring. With a good MTM shirt, it should fit very well. It might take one test shirt fitting to nail down the measurements properly. Anyways, just my two cents.

I agree the site lacks details...I am not that experienced in buying shirts so those details are a little over my head.

I guess best way to find out would be to ask through the site.

Btw - my shirt has shell buttons.

I ordered a shirt from the site above (nialma) and it's great. They sent one first (for free) to check if it fit then sent 3 more. It fits perfectly, although i did change the length by 2cm

I'm really happy with the material and quality, although i'm not a professional but do love my shirts. my next 3 should arrive very soon so i'll keep you posted. I also ordered one from the other site above (mytailor.com) because of the recommendations on here but haven't got it yet. Will report on it when i get it. Can't wait for my shirts, now i need to pick a couple of nice ties
