I haven't received mine yet, but have noticed on some Aldens the whole diagonal laces thing. I wouldn't worry about it. Chalk it up to how a made-for-everyone shoe lays on your unique foot. When you get into the four digit shoes (it's a slippery slope, believe me) you can then start to obsess over right angles and such.

Thanks for the input. I've seen it on some pictures of Alden chukkas as well, but have also seen it reported as a defect on AE seconds before which is why I was questioning it.

Got my choco chukkas! They're perfect. Some of the best AEs I've seen.

No shoe bags, though. :fu:

Was that intentional? Usually AEs come with them.

Why the attitude? It's obviously not a deal breaker, but I've bought around 20 pairs of AEs, and they all came with shoe bags, so it's a legitimate question. Maybe it was just oversight.

I totally agree - AE firsts come with bags. That is an absolutely valid expectation, and I'd be pissed if they came without them. Heck, I've had seconds that came with them.

I'm not pissed, just wondering. I actually have an extra pair floating around.

But I probably would have been cool with paying an extra 10$ for them to be included if it was a price issue.

I guess I just dont care that much about shoe bags. I use them, but couldn't really care less if shoes came with them or not. As long as the shoes come as advertised, I dont really care if the shoe bags are there, or what the box looks like either for that matter.

An "Add Bags +$10" button would have been 100% fine. Otherwise the StyleForums community would have every reasonable expectation that they'd be included...

I don't really care about the box since its a box and any box the shoe comes in assuming shoe box size will function the same as any other shoe box. If you are use to them coming with bags and these don't and you use bags as part of your shoe care regimen I imagine it would matter to you. It isnt like these came with a bag that didnt look pretty but could still function as a shoe bag, it came without. Would you like your shoes shipped without a box given that you are accustomed to them coming in a box?

It's fine that YOU don't care - no idea why you're poking HIM for caring (or at least mentioning it). I care, and firsts come with bags. That has been AE's practice for a long time AFAIK.

Very happy with the shoe.
Very happy with the value of the product.
I do use shoe bags always.
If it was meant to be included and im entitled, I will look into getting them.
If not, I'll go about my business and enjoy the shoes.

I'm absolutely certain that I'm not the only customer who will be wondering about this.

Great thanks to Brillo and Paul G and everyone who put time and resources into making this lovely product.

??? He asked why I posted that and I explained.

Also, I wasn't 'poking him for caring'. I posted an emoji. If that was too harsh for you guys, then I apologize.

As long as they came in perfect condition, what do I care? I was promised the shoes, I got the shoes.

you know what you meant.

But it's cool, I'm not offended. Just explaining myself.

Perhaps it was the use of only an emoji that led 3 of us to assume it was poking him. Apologies if it was meant in some other way. Anyone who buys AE firsts and in several cases seconds would be asking if not at least curious as to why they came without bags.
