My experience with mycustomtailor.com

I'm new to the forum, but I figured a good way to start off would be by detailing my experiences with the online suit makers at mycustomtailor.com. I was pretty sceptical about ordering online, but decided to give it a try. After looking around on the website(which isnt all that great) I decided on this style:
http://www.mycustomtailor.com/fabrics.php?styleID=9275
I went with the mens classic line because it is the cheapest and i wanted to just get a feel for the process of the site.

I ordered it in black with 2.5 inch lapels, light shoulders, flat front pants, and frog mouth pockets.

It arrived 4 days before christmas, took 3 weeks to make and ship, pretty good for coming from Thailand to Eastern Canada.

The construction on the suit is pretty damn good for a 220 dollar suit, comparable to a 500 Ralph Lauren I got while in New York last May.

Here are a couple of pictures:

Has anyone else had experience with mycustomtailor/ravistailor/mysuitshop?

I've ordered a number of suits and jackets, and have had absolutely no problems beyond my own errors in measurement.

that's not a long jacket. it's pretty much right where it's supposed to be (covering your butt). the sleeves, however, i think are a bit short. unfortunate choice of colors, although looks great for a first time fit!

Yeah the black was just for my first try at it,my next suit from there I am going to get charcoal with chalk stripe.

I agree. In fact the slightly short sleeves are kind of fun. Congrats on the suit!

It looks like a good first try - can you post views front and rear without the jacket on please?

A view of the inside of the jacket will reveal a little of its quality too.

Mycusttailor are definitely no good!! I had a mastor tailor coming to London to measure me up. He also wanted to sell me more shirts which were supposed to be slim fit and another jacket.

Needless to say the overcoat that I bought didn't look like anything that was advetised on their site. The sleaves were also so short i couldn't even lift my arms. The shirts that were supposed to be slim fit looked like a dress. The work done on the material also was of poor quality. For the same price I can get a lot better in London.

Also, forget about getting your money back. Even when they say they'll refund you the money after a lot of complaints, the next time you get your post you'll find they've altered the order just so they don't to give the money back.

And my friend the worst look on a tall guy in a suit is when you can clearly see the sleaves are too short. Your shirt ehould not stick out that much!!

Mycustomtailor is really shit and they'll never get any business from me or anyone I know!

I've just received my first ever order from mycustomtailor.com and in all fairness I felt had to write to say that my experience is completely different to that of "Unhappy". I had several reasons to contact people in the company over added details and payments and the whole process couldn't have been more pleasant from start to finish.
I ordered a shirt and a suit last month, both of which have recently arrived and I'm genuinely impressed. My experience of tailoring to date is of high-quality ready-to-wear which I then have altered - sometimes quite significantly - to my own requirements in a number of well-established gentlemen's outfitters and tailors. The workmanship from mycustomtailor is on a par with this approach (which is a mixture of the standards of the suit manufacturer and the alterations tailor) and the options are streets ahead.
Sure, there is a slight problem with my first order - the jacket fitted uncannily well on shoulders, arms stomach but was just so slightly too long, so I went back to the measurements I had submitted and checked them against the jacket and yes, the mistake is totally my own fault - I simply didn't measure accurately enough, so I'm having the jacket altered locally. The numerous little touches I specified such as working buttons on the jacket sleeves (sleeve length thankfully is perfect as that could have been disastrous...), pick stitching etc were all present and correct and beautifully done. There's a huge list of optional extras like those but you can also write and ask for a quote for anything else that isn't on their list. The suit I ordered was a three-piece and the waistcoat and trousers were perfect - I think the trousers is probably the best fit I've ever had - really impressed.
The biggest surprise was the fabric - I had ordered a Super 180s wool and cashmere and when I read more about the S-numbers I was afraid it would be a really light, cheap material - this couldn't be further from the truth. Sure, the fabric is superfine and the suit isn't a "workhorse" suit for every day, but that wasn't what I wanted anyway. It's a special suit and one of the most beautiful I have, right up on a par with my best Canali (a Super 120s) - except that it cost a fraction of the price and was made for me exactly to my own specifications - okay this isn't a competition, but in all fairness I had to make the point that my experience with mycustomtailor has been excellent.
My experience of ordering online from mycustomtailor.com and of dealing with them has been totally positive and although I don't want to take photos of myself (even with a blanked-out face!), as that wasn't the point of the post, I am, very happy with the shirt and suit, hugely impressed by them, in fact and am attaching a photo of the shirt (more really high-quality fabric) and the waistcoat of the suit and I think the quality is clear (even from my badly-taken photo!), so overall a really positive experience - just like G.P.
