I'm looking to buy a pair of chukka boots to pair with jeans.  Would suede be a better choice or leather?

Me too! Going with suede, 100%.

Either would go, although I would recommend not in black.

Wouldn't suede be much more difficult to keep looking nice?

Depends on the quality of suede. It's really not as delicate as people seem to think.

Just spray with a suede protector every once and a while.

Gonna go with suede. Tobacco and snuff seem to be the most popular colors.

the question is if they are going to be sharp or not. I am not a big fan of chukka boots. check opening ceremony one. they are the finest I have ever seen.

A but late to the conversation, but in reality either or is fine, as long as the leather or suede isn't black (even then it could be fine). The casual nature of jeans seems to go well suede, but since chukkas are casual shaped shoe, leather would work too.

Therefore, it really only comes down to your preference - do you like the look of suede or brown leather better? Having both, I can say i wear both regularly and their very nice. It really comes down to your personal preference.
