Allen Edmonds McAllister "Issue"?

Just received a new pair of AE McAllisters this week.  Worn them around the house a few times.  A couple hours out last night, and then probably 7-8 hours today.  Later in the evening last night and then again today I noticed the left outside edge of my heal was hurting. When I got to the hotel and took them off, it looks to me like the insole is out of place ever so slighty especially compared to the right.  It has a definite "edge" to it causing a gap between the wall and the insole that's cutting into the outside of my heal.  I've done some quick searching, I understand they have a stiffer insole.  I have the Lake Bluff loafer in the same size 9 3E that was sized in store and those felt amazing the first time I wore them (which was an all day affair) and have felt great ever since.   I'm wondering if it's just the McAllister (specifically the left shoe) and needs time to "break in", although I've read and experienced that not to be the case with other models.  Or if maybe something is a bit off.  Thoughts?

 

Here's the left shoe, you can see it's sort of "creasing" and is flat on the outside heel, I can fit my index finger in the gap.

 

 

Here is the right for comparison can't even fit my pinky between the edge and insole.

That looks like a manufacturing flaw. I would take them back and get a different pair. My interactions with AE have been excellent so I'm sure they will take care of you.

PS - they respond very quickly through their Twitter account so you could message them that way first.

Ok, thanks for the input.  I'll give them a call tomorrow I guess.  Just wasn't sure how well their customer care is.  I bought them online direct so hopefully they can help, because it definitely hasn't improved today.

Surprised that you think that it is manufacturing issue unless you are referring to the OP's feet. However social media frequently brings an unwarranted but beneficial outcome given that suppliers might think indulging you courts decent PR.

It appears to be a manufacturing issue because one shoe has a gap where the insole meets the side where the other shoe does not. I'm not sure how you think the OP's feet would have caused that. Bone spurs? As for social media, check out the AE twitter feed and you'll see that they are using it as a way to provide customer service not just as a way to build PR.
