Removing red tab from an old pair of 501 jeans

I have 2 pairs of 501s, one in a colour I never really liked and the other is vintage used in the right colour that I bought online which are genuine but B grade with the red tab on the back having been ripped off.

I' e decided I want to take the red tab from the first pair and have it sown in the same place on the other - does anyone know if that can be done without the tab getting damaged in any way etc?

Should be a simple job if you have access to a seam ripper and a sewing machine.  The tab is really just a piece of folded fabric that is caught in the stitches that holds the pocket in place. When you take the seam ripper to the pocket just go the length of the tab and pull it out. Then just topstitch over the area you removed.
