I have two sport coats that, no matter what was done to them, they projected a smokers smell. Yes, I used to smoke which apparently contaminated the fabric. The other night, I tried once more to remove the smells.
This process, as dumb as it sounds, provided unbelievsble results.
I took the coats outside, sprayed them in and out with a mens body spray. I let them dry for a short time, then threw the both in a dryer on cool with a sock that i had put a little baby powder in and tied it off. After about ten minutes, I took them out. There was a few patches of powder that i easily brushed out. Shook them off.
I thought, ok, I probably screwed up.
But
To my amazement, not only was the smell gone, the coats neither reeked of the body spray nor baby powder. In fact, they had a very very low intensity fresh smell....a neutralized smell that provided me the satisfaction I had tried to achieve many times without success...
Dry cleaning, fabric deodorizers, I tried many internet solutions. Nothing really worked.
I was so surprised at this, I had to post somewhere.
