Damn people are still talking about these? I used to rock these years ago. Not to make political statement, but because I thought they were nice scarves (or headpieces). At the time i would rarely see people who were not of middle eastern background (aside from my asian/european ass) wearing these. But of course, I live in Brooklyn around Williamsburg and you know ppl were gonna hop onto the look. Ppl would either give me weird looks or ask me where I got my scarf. Needless to say I soon stopped wearing it and pretty much wiped it out of my closet once I saw hood kids rocking it. These were the first scarves I wore on a regular basis and they're probably the last. Now during the winter months I'll wear them strictly when i bike ride, just to minimize the windshield factor.
I would say don't wear it. But if you foolishly decide to, make sure not to flaunt it too much.
