Fragrances on Amazon

Anyone ever have a bad experience buying an Amazon fragrance? I am getting ready to buy a designer scent that is going for 60% of retail w/ free shipping. I hesitated however, just wondering, if Amazon fulfills items like fragrances from overstock/liquidations that might have the EDT sitting on a shelf for 1-2 yrs before I find it??

This is not a closeout fragrance. Any reason to be leary of buying one of the most popular current fragrances for $45 + free shipping, when FragranceNet and others are in the $60 range? Am I being paranoid?

I've had good luck with scentiments.com, so compare the price there. If it's a popular fragrance shelf life should not be an issue (as long as it's in the box). It it's ancient and nobody wants it.......

I've bought a few scents via Amazon and have been happy with them. One of the things I watch for is whether the seller is Amazon (and I get free shipping) or a partner of Amazon (which I have slightly less faith in).

On-line, prices vary wildly between sellers. You might find one bottle of Guerlain Vetiver for $25 while another seller puts it at $45. I think FragranceNet was the high price on GV, so other e-tailers will likely be lower in cost.

If it's a popular scent, you'll probably get fresh juice, but I've bought 20-year old bottles of scents and found them in pristine shape, so long as they're stored well.

Greg: Thanks for tip, sceniments w/ coup code actually did beat Amazon by $2. Love your Avatar!

I second scentiments. I've had great experience there and the selection is usually pretty good.

You also may sign onto basenotes community and check out the sales/swap area there.

Good luck!

Are they allowing swaps/decants again?

You can swap bottles and stuff with no problems, but unfortunately decants are still a no-go.
