Someone made a comment at work that they haven't seen that before.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for; many people prefer it to be rather subtle, and when done by hand it is almost invisible, however if you are looking for a decorative detail (indeed, some like it in a contrast colour) then it might not be so bad. My objection is mainly to the underside of the stitch which is visible near the button and which I find unsightly.

thank you @GradSchooler for the kind words! and thanks @redwood for the detailed picture, it does look ok like that to me!

about the coupons, I have two links on my blog (in the indochino guide post) and also retweeted some coupons on twitter - but I don't know if they work. I guess you can always go check it and if it doesn't accept the code, don't go on with the purchase.

The lighting deemphasizes the top and emphasizes the underside slightly, but this is what Jeffery is talking about.

I ordered on March 24th and received my suit today. My early impressions are not favourable, but perhaps I may be able to salvage the suit.

The pants are at least 1 inch too large in the waist. I asked for them unhemmed; they are hemmed. The pants feel a bit baggy as well.

The arms are quite wide and poofy. I'm not sure if they're actually larger than normal or if they simply don't keep their shape. All I know is that when I draw them together, there is still a lot of loose fabric hanging about whereas there is much less loose fabric with my other coats. Example:

My biggest issue is the shoulders. First, they seem about 1 inch too large, but when I've compared their measurements to my other jackets, they're nearly the same... I think it's the construction that bothers me. None of my jackets have large creases underneath the shoulders when they are not worn. None of my jackets have shoulder padding that bubbles out at the end of the shoulders. These feel rather lumpy. And the seams where the arms attach to the suit bubble out. It's less of a problem when you're wearing the suit, but it still appears a bit unnatural:

The suit is a bit loose in the chest (1 - 2 inches) and requires more waist suppression (1 - 2 inches).

The shirt is not slim fitting, has billowy arms like the suit, and is made from cheap material. Not a huge deal since the shirt was included free.

I'm going to speak with my tailor to see what he can do, but I think I'll just get a refund and move on with my life. I'll post pics of me in the suit later to give everyone a better idea of its fit. I do think it's salvageable, but I have a bitter taste in my mouth - I've ordered OTR suits online before, and they've fit better.

Fun experiment.

Here is my first remake, the first one I ordered was skin tight. This is the fit I got subtracting at least 1-2" from all my measurements some I subtracted up to 5". It's been kind of a headache.

Any opinion on the fit? Feel free to post in my thread.

Would you mind posting your original measurements and then your indochino measurements? That fit is pretty good (certainly much better than mine).

agreed about that fit it is pretty decent.

Here are my "actual" measurements (in quotes because I measured myself with a little help from my mom and the videos on their website. I was almost naked during the measuring process. I never went to a tailor)

Neck 16
Chest 40
Shoulder 19
Stomach 34.5
Sleeve Length 27
Jacket Length 32
Jacket Hips 40 (This was the widest point around my hips/butt)
Bicep 14
Wrist 8.75

Pants Length 44.5
Thigh 22.5
Pants Hips 40 (This was the widest point around my hips/butt)
Knee 15.5
Crotch 21.5
Waist 34

This is what was entered for my remake. *Note there was no place to enlarge the knee on the remake form. I enlarged the thigh by 3" and posted in the comment on the remake to enlarge the knee proportionally, so I don't know how much was added but I put 16 here because my original was 13*

Neck 16
Chest 39
Shoulder 18.75
Stomach 34.5
Sleeve Length 27
Jacket Length 32
Jacket Hips 35
Bicep 9
Wrist 8.75

Pants Length 45.75
Thigh 22
Pants Hips 35
Knee 16
Crotch 21.5
Waist 33

To get the sleeves slim I subtracted 5" from the bicep measurement. I did my initial tweaks based on the guide that used to be posted on the madetomeasureny blog (it has since been taken down) and the suit was tiny.

Indochino just added a new collection of linen suits

looks good, but the jackets are very very short - or is that normal for linen suits?

Ooh, I've been wanting a linen suit for summer! I've just ordered one from them... (My other suits from them have been quite successful.) - Mike

Since you've ordered several times and been successful (and the key to success seems to be proper measuring) have any advice on measuring for those of us thinking of taking the plunge?
