Gloverall duffel coat in Scotland?

I sold a friend on the classic Gloverall duffel coat. He's planning a trip to Scotland in October and wants to bring it. Is that fine or should he bring a raincoat and a fleece?

Don't see why not. Depends where in Scotland though and whether it's a mild October. I'd prefer a waxed Barbour. At home on a game shoot, up Ben Nevis or in the centre of Glasgow. Waterproof and good for layering.

Heh how would you travel with a thick wool coat if it rains? Use an umbrella?

Actually, on second thought, I'd say it'd be too warm for a thick duffel in most of Scotland in October. Certainly if it was as mild and rainy as last year.

Doesn't the weather go down to 5 degrees in October?
