Having owned half a dozen pairs of B&Ls: The Sagans are extremely comfortable and obviously forgiving in terms of fit. (However, the original Sagans had less stiffening in the heel and toe, and were superior to current models.) Yet they can be difficult to justify given the limited lifespan, even if you replace the heels and patch the holes, etc., as I've done. The sole construction means the upper is exposed to more contact with pavement, kerbs, cobbles, bollards, etc., and therefore more likely to be scuffed or abraded.
The non-Sagan premium models (e.g., Grand) are more vexing, given their lack of proper welting.
