Question about 212 Area Code

Good morning. I have two land-lines with a 212 area code. I am interested in getting rid of one -- possibly both. So, two questions:

1. Can I transfer the land line to a cell phone?
2. If not, is there any way to sell the phone number? I hear tell that 212 area codes are considered to be of value.

Thank you very much.

My work land line is 646 and my fax is 212.

It's just like 212 except they multiplied every number by 3... and added 1 to the middle number.

Pretty sure you can. Craigslist--or ebay...or maybe post it around town. Think it'd just be a matter of working out a deal with someone one-on-one, then agreeing to transfer the number and account into his name. I'd recommend demanding payment before transfer, though, and putting the agreement on paper (sales slip or receipt). I don't know if you'd be able to do it if the person didn't have the same phone company available at their phone's location, though. I have no idea what all the land-line technicalities are, though. How much you want for it?

Thanks - useful information. I am open to offers (subject to legalities, etc.).

Yes, you can always post it on eBay, but first you will need to port the number out to a cell phone, checkout this site: http://212areacode.com/ they sell 212 area code phone numbers as well.
