An Indian outplacement firm buying Jaguar. It's like revenge of the colonies!

lol

Jaguar hasn't been the best investment for Ford, however that can be contributed to the lack of great design over the past decade. Although, I love the classic lines of the XJ and the styling of the XK, the X-type was a complete failure. You cannot have a company based on designs from 20-40 years ago. This is the sole reason I think the new sedan will be a great addition.

I also read that Land Rover will be included in this aquisiton, that's ashame, considering Ford has done real well in improving design and making Land Rover profitable again. The modern iterations of Land Rovers are far superior to the products put out more than 10 years ago.

Or maybe it was also overpaying for Jaguar in the first place.

Perhaps they won't go TU if Tata buys them.

Damn I already have a Rover but was looking to upgrade in two 1/2 years when I finish my masters...guess I won't if an indian company owns them...I'll have to stick to American made SUV's if I don't buy a lexus

Yeah, but they still have horrible reliability; shit by any other name would still smell the same.

But Lexus is owned by the Japs. How can you call yourself a freedom loving, god fearing American if you buy Jap?

It adds to their British charm, I can't think of any car coming from Britain that could be considered reliable.

Either way, they still look better than their previous predecessors.

"Japs" are very good automakers

By BMW, though.

I see fault in the logic however, because:

BMW owns MINI and RR

VW owns Bentley

Ford owns LR and Jaguar

Proton owns Lotus

Nanjing owns MG

Thus the only true "˜British' brands left are AM (owned by a British-Arab consortium) and Ariel.

You won't buy something because its Indian owned?

Tata is a major conglomerate and is very well respected on the global stage.

I, for one, think this is a great move. Tata's acquisition may just save these two brands.

Tata Motors is buying Jaguar and LR. You're thinking of TCS, which is part of the Tata Group, but a completely different entity.
