Crest on a trench coat

So I'm thinking of finally ditching my pea coat and buying a trench from Aquascutum. I'm planning to get my crest embroided on the epaulette but what is your take on having one on the gun flap? Is there any other popular location for a crest? I haven't decided on the exact model but I will be going for the traditional double breasted knee length coat. Thanks for your help.

Not a great idea. Do not defile a classical trench coat with your "crest".
Many titled officers and gentlemen with crests wear (wore ) trench coats
without displaying their escutcheons on their trench coats. Blazers are the
proper medium for such displays.

As you may know the trench coat was introduced in world war I for British
Officers who were actually in trenches through much of the conflict. You will
note that none of these heroes has seen fit to display personal emblems on their
kit:

Thanks for your reply comrade. Yeah on the chest pocket of a blazer may be a better idea like you said. Also signet rings.
