Scientology, what do you know?

I wonder if anyone ever tried their online questionnaire or tried to find out what they are all about form the original source(lectures/ offices)?
There are a lot of prominent people who are members of that church.
Are those people incredibly gullible/dumb or do they know something we do not?

I believe 'celebrity' religion endorsers are likely paid huge kickback sums for product endorsement of the cult. If T. Cruise is at the top of the Scientology pyramid, could that income rival his movie paychecks?

Incredibly gullible, and also know something I do not (Scientology) which I do not want to know.

I guess from a non-joking perspective, everybody believes in different things, and they find whichever religion validates their beliefs. If you read into and the things you read validate and correspond with your personal beliefs, then there is no reason not to be a part of it.

It's pretty much a pyramid scheme. You could snark and say "what Organized Religion isnt?" However, with a few exceptions, churches are generally not money-making enterprises and give huge amounts to charity. Scientology, with a few exceptions (they've recently begun, finally, to get involved in charity) is a money-making enterprise. A person can worship at a local church and not have to pay a dime. Definitely not the case with Scientology.

Also, the only other religion that currently attacks its opponents more fiercely is fundamentalist Islam.

Call it what you want but Scientology is nothing more than a well-funded cult.

Last year Rolling Stone published a huge investigative piece on Scientology. The group fought like hell to keep the article from being published but free speech eventually won. It's one hell of an interesting read... and scary!

Yes, well I have reached Theta 7 and have shed this fleshly body! I'm now simply a unit of energy (probably why you've never seen me at the SF Meet'n'greets.) For only 7.5 million dollars, you too can be this "shining." Anyway, isn't L. Ron quoted as having once said, "If you really want to get rich, start your own religion?"

What is curious that membership in Church of Scientology had never hurt anyone professionally. Are they as well connected as Free Masons used to be?
I recently found out that one of my fav. musicians (Beck) is a member. Beck is scientologist? What the heck?

Source not involving your own rectal cavity? It has actually hurt a few people in my hometown (which is where the CoS is headquartered). It may not hurt people in Hollywood, but neither do rape/spouse abuse convictions, repeated drug addictions, participations in pornography, etc....

He said it a lot more than once!

I recommend the biography 'Bare faced Messiah' to anyone who wants the dirt on L. Ron. Though the Scientologists may have managed to successfully buy every copy of it and steal every copy from every library.
