I've owned a suit from Thick as Thieves for a few years now and have been satisfied with it, but a year or so after I bought it I began pumping iron, and the suit went from close-fitting to too tight. Time for a new suit, and the timing is good: I'm now interested in something more conservative and classically styled anyway. Specifically, I'm looking for something that comes as close as possible to the Anderson & Sheppard drape cut. Bespoke, though, is beyond my price range and likely will remain so for years to come. Instead, I'm thinking about finding an OTR suit that fits right in the shoulders and collar, and having everything else adjusted by a good tailor. Here are my two burning questions:
1) What OTR (or MTM, for that matter) house cuts most closely approximate the A&S drape cut? I realize even the closest may not actually come that close, but I'll take what I can get.
2) I plan to wear the suit with suspenders, so I need mid- to high-backed trousers. In almost every photo I look at online, the model is wearing trousers that fit more like jeans, tight and low-slung. Do any OTR/MTM vendors offer a slightly roomier trouser prepared to accept suspenders?
I've got a wedding coming up in late fall and would like to have a good suit by that time. Thanks in advance for any advice.
