Watches with gold wedding ring

Thread Starter

Trying on the standard silver colored watches recently I noticed they seemed a little at odds with my gold wedding band. Am I imagining that or is that genuinely a contrast to be avoided?

All gold seemed to guido to me, would a multi-colored watch like the one pictured below be a good idea?

I'm white skinned if that makes a difference, tending to have a reddish tinge.

It wouldn't bother me.

Not a fan of mixed metals myself (and in particular two tone watches) but I seem to be in the minority rather than majority.

I have the opposite problem though, I have a silver coloured wedding ring and so for highly formal or casual watches I'm ok as they are all steel or steel/platinum with black leather. Its the day to day to wear with suits where I have the issue as I want a brown strap which to my eyes works better with a gold case but I dont like the gold/silver combination.

Some men like yellow-and-white metal wristwatches, others don't. I don't happen to care for them, but I recognize that this is just my personal preference. If the next fellow likes such watches, and chooses to wear one, I don't take that as an indication that he's wrong, just that his taste and mine differ on this point.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with an all gold wristwatch, but since you indicate you don't care for it, fine. (BTW, some will find it offensive that you refer to a gold watch as being, "to [sic] guido." I mention this in case you'd prefer not to give insult.)

There is no rule mandating that your wristwatch and wedding band be of similar metals. A wedding band, due to being a symbol of love and marital commitment, rises above the "matching metals" rule of mere fashion accessories.

^ agree. i've seldom run across a 2-tone watch that i like.

that said, i wear a gold wedding band and it's pretty matte these days from wear. as is my steel-and-rubber watch. i don't worry about matching things. when i go 'full pirate' i wear my wedding band, a black titanium ring on my index finger, my watch and a thin silver cuff (pretty tarnished these days) all on my left hand.

i think it's just a matter of getting past the perceived incongruity, and finding some other dimension along which you can think about your options. there's more than just color ya know.

on the other hand, if you can't get around it there's nothing wrong with that either. somebody else commented about bands. lots of options if you are open to switching out a stock watchband.

no wrong decisions amigo.
