You will get what you pay for and that is the first point for you. Second up, there are few decent tailors and if you read this thread you will find them.

You would be a very rare fellow if you find a tailor who makes a product, both good and cheaply. If a Thailand resident is suggesting three such good tailors, that would appear to be your choice. For any old rag not fit to be seen in public, there will doubtless be many itinerant so-called tailors who, if they don't make off with your money, will ignore your requests and measurements once you have told them when you are leaving!

Thus be very careful, Thailand is not known for Saville Row trained tailors, just the natives.

Just to give some more information.

I'm a Bangkok resident who is a frequent customer of Lala Duly (Only visited their store in Sukhumvit 49)
I also have my suits and shirts made from both Narin and Tanika and have experienced with other famous suit makers (for local Thai, never heard anyone mentioned in this forum).

For shirts, i still prefer lala duly with their signature collar the most and just like many people in this forum said, their workmanship and cut are far more superior than other shirtmakers in Bangkok. The in-store experience is very enjoyable and definitely worth your visit too. For prices, expect to pay 4,000-6,000 Baht a shirt, they also have top-of-the-line fabrics such as Thomas Mason (7-10k per shirt) but it would take longer to make since they usually don't carry stock.

For suit, i don't see significant difference in workmanship and cut between Narin and Tanika (afterall they are probably mother and son stores), though, in my opinion Tanika seems to carry a more premium range of fabrics and offer a MUCH BETTER service than Narin. However, i don't see much English fabrics in both stores, they usually carry fabrics from Italian mills.

I'm interested in maybe going to a tailor in bangkok and sew up a few suits before starting to work after 3 years of university studies.

All I know is that I don't spend much money on suits in Sweden, generally never over 10.000 baht in swedish currency. With this said, I'm wondering if Rajawongse is good enough to fulfill my needs? I'm interested in suits that fits me well, half lined and not glued.

Hi, long time lurker. I want to thank all of you who said good things about Gordon Yao in HK. Made me an awesome suit that fit like a dream on my weight lifter frame. In Bangkok right now. I have tanika and Galaxy tailor making me pants. Let me know what details to add so you can dissect their work. Attacking pictures of first fitting at tanika.

OK with Thailand opening up again and me having got some incredibly useful information from this forum, if anyone has interest/questions about Bangkok "Tailoring" let me know - note: I don't have suits/shirts/shoes made in Bangkok, but like many tried it when I came here 25 years ago. if you want a Savile Row suit you actually have to go to Savile Row, which is what I did.

Everybody thinks they are going to find some old guy in a sub soi off Sukhumvit who will make them a Savile Row standard suit at a fraction of the cost. You won't.

Years ago I wondered who taught the Vietnamese tailors in Vientenne Laos, - Surely it must have been the French - had I come across a time capsule where I could buy a suit made like it would have been in Paris in the 1930's? - no, on inspection they didn't look that good.

Bangkok is good for:

15 Lime Green team jackets in different sizes.

Trying out an idea like Orange and Blue Plaid cheaply to see if you like it.

If you have to wear suits and can't buy OTR and cost is a consideration more than quality/cut/ finish.

That said: You pay 75% of the cost and get 60% of the quality - maybe better pay 100% elsewhere and get 100%. Sad to say, Bangkok has suitmakers, but few Tailors.

Thai's don't know how to wear suits and how a suit should look - it is not their heritage - if I see a Thai who knows how to wear a suit, chances are he was educated abroad.

Best oveview here: http://bkkbusiness.com/?page_id=329 I am not the author.

Hello all just notice this thread.

I am Bangkok resident and have seen and check several tailors here already.
I would like to recommend the shop "Alongkorn" which is one of the best in town : decent , good fit and very well balance.

They don't offer too rush work so if you have enough time (over 3 weeks maybe) highly suggest you can go to consult with them.

Owner Mr.Sonpon is fluency conversation in English so it's not hard to communicate.

They offer many famous fabric brands such as Zegna, Loro Piana, Holland&Sherry, VBC, Piacenza, Drago, Scabal, Solbiati....etc.
And local Thai's wool-blend fabric as well.

This is the first suits I sew up from them. 4" wide lapel, 2" open in gorge mouth, Full canvas with hand pad stitching, handmade shoulder pad by pad stitching as well (never saw any tailors do this by themself in Bangkok...).
Soft construction, Natural Shoulder, 3-rolled-2, hand-sewing buttonhole, pick-stitching, rose holder, Barchetta chest pocket.
The fabric is from Japanese mill-KUZURI KEORI, 100% Wool Tasmania blend, 231g/m.
And use real horn buttons
(Sorry for the low resolution just took by mobile..)

i haven't try shirts with them yet, maybe next time will make it.

This is final fitting in Alongkorn.

The trousers they made for me is too wide on bottom hem, that make it looks not tapered enough so i send it back to adjust, will update once i get it.

Let me know any details you want to see more.

If you want a recommendation I would say Tailor on Ten. They have yet to make a suit or jacket for me but would be my choice if I did. I have used them for alterations and was impressed with their knowledge of what was causing e.g. shoulder divots - the interaction between shoulder, arm scye and sleeve tightness.

I have trusted them with alterations to Savile Row and high end Italian - the latter was literally a remodeling taking it down one whole size and they did it very well.

They claim they will make you a decent half canvassed suit in a good fabric and at a reasonable price and I would say that is a fair claim and this is Bangkok's niche IMO.

I have no relationship with them other than as a customer who has been impressed by their knowledge and workmanship.
