@tchoy knocking it out of the park as always.

Mate, when are we going to see you and your Grand Seikos at a Tarts meet?

(There's one tonight.)

Something you don’t like about these particular silks, or do you object to slubby ties in general (you wouldn’t be alone if you do)?

Cheers,

Been enjoying this NMWA jacket.  Love the fabric and cut.  I think I didn't pick that knit tie for this thread, but I've been wearing it a lot.

Details on both @emptym jacket and knit. Formosa hopsack?

post #115 of 136

Yes for the jacket. The tie is from Saks ~2008.  Shirt is Luxire of Monti fabric, I believe the first custom shirt they ever made.  Bag is standard issue Irish schoolboy from 1979 (belonged to a friend who got it when he was 5).  And square is a fabric remnant with edges I sewed by hand years ago:

Ok, maybe I can make a last call as summer winds down and we transition to F/W. I want anyone who wants to take part to be able to do so this month. So

@sugarbutch

@GusW

@Spandexter

@Murlsquirl

@kulata

@aportnoy

@UrbanComposition

@unbelragazzo

@EFV

@gdl203

@cezinho

@sebastian mcfox

Consider this a public service for SF, to record some ideas for others, based on your own experiences, 10 ties, 5 jackets. How to maintain a trim wardrobe with seasonally appropriate fits and combinations.

Please try to do so by next Monday. We'll open the thread then, so to followers of the thread, do post pics.

Also, to all who have participated in the 10/5 FW edition, do feel free to update your choices etc. I'm sure there are new ties coming in, madders, challis etc that you feel warrant inclusion in your 10 tie pics. Hey dudes, sorry I have been slacking on this - been traveling a lot this summer. But our semester just started so I'll try to post the next 5 outfits I wear to class. In the meantime, here are a couple of summer "casual" black tie outfits:

This is a shawl DB with satin facing; I wear it with lightweight wool black tuxedo pants:

Here is my dark blue linen tuxedo, with grosgrain facing:
