Jantzen order timeline

Dear Fellows, I wanted to give Ricky Ho at Jantzen Tailor some positive feedback regarding his production time. The below is for one test shirt I ordered. Shirt Order Submitted: Sun, 5 Sep 2004 Shirt Order Body Photos emailed: 9/7/04 in PM Shirt Put in Hong Kong Mail for delivery: 9/14/04 Shirt Arrived Midwest USA: 9/20/04 10/07/2004 Card transaction JANTZEN TAILOR $-43.39   So I had my shirt in my home 13 days after I had given Ricky all my information including photos. It took Ricky 7 days total to produce the shirt. Ricky did not charge me until weeks after delivery of the shirt. That, dear fellows, equals a wonderful first experience with Jantzen Tailor. By the way, I did not call him, email him with questions, nothing of the sort. I just submitted the order form and emailed photos of my trunk to him. Best.

But how did the shirt fit? And your reaction to the fabric quality?

I guess if you order 1 shirt, he gets it too you quickly. I'm still waiting on my 5 shirt order from mid July.

I was very happy with the quality of the fabric. The fit was better than I expected for a first shirt. I need to make a few measurement adjustments and I'll place a larger order. Frankly, for $44 I am floored by the deal at Jantzen.

Not really. I placed two different one shirt orders, one in late July/early August or so, and one in early September. I've heard absolutely nothing, save a quick reply to say that one of the fabrics I wanted was out of stock (though that was the last I heard even after I replied). I'm about to place another one shirt order in the next few days. Wish me luck.

Jantzen makes an attractive product; my test shirt came out looking swell, but communication is spotty, at best. In addition, there are two triangles of fabric placed within the collar as stiffeners--near the tips--which are not properly affixed, and consequently roll-up in an unsightly fashion, presenting an ironing challenge the size of a small Eastern state. I have placed my second order with Ricky, who is clearly a decent fellow, and I have asked that this problem be corrected. Essentially, Jantzen is a tremendous value, but you cannot have loose bits of fabric rolling inside a collar, between its interlining and the actual shirt fabric that constitutes the underside of the collar itself. This is purely a construction issue...and it's important. FYI, gentlemen. Regards, Jack

Jack -- Are you referring to "set-in" collar stays? I believe someone else on the board got these when they didn't ask for them, but you can specify this on the order form and maybe make an extra note in the comments section.

I am not, JG: I am describing instead the two fabric stiffeners that Ricky uses to give body to the collar tips. These triangular inserts may be found between the interlining and the back of the collar fabric. They are held in place on two sides by the collar stitching, but their third edges are unsecured and those are the edges that roll within the collar, and present nasty curls that must be smoothed before the shirt collar may be ironed. This is a design and construction flaw that must be addressed by Jantzen, because the shirt I received, which is exceedingly attractive and well-styled, is fatally compromised by this annoying problem. Regards, Jack P.S. I washed my shirt four times by hand, so brutal treatment by cleaning barbarians is not the issue here--and I ordered removable collar stays...FYI.

I'm still waiting for my shirt order from the same time period. Single shirt, though, and my first order.
