I personally also condition the soles several times with leather lotion. They are also leather and also quite old. It helps them. Just apply it generously and allow to soak in and dry. Then Repeat.
So Day 1 is finished on the 93605 recovery.
Interestingly, the left shoe had less polish come off **********, but on the leather itself showed the removal of color more from the Renomat, even though I didn't work it as much. Not exactly thrilled about that, but guessing the next steps will even things out. I might go back over the right shoe a bit more tomorrow before I condition both shoes.
The planned next steps are:
- Assess the shoes tomorrow morning
- Renomat the right shoe (lightly) if it appears it will help and even things out.
- Condition both shoes (probably with VSC)
- Allow shoes to rest for a bit (several hours)
- Brush the shoes
- Condition both shoes again
- Assess shoes after allowing them to sit overnight
- Brush the shoes
- Condition both shoes again if necessary (don't think it will be necessary)
- Apply Saphir Cordovan cream (#71)
- Brush the dickens out of the shoes
- Apply Saphir Cordovan cream again
- Brush the dickens out of the shoes again.
- Assess
Any thoughts on those steps?
