Actual sleeve length difference to get 0.25" of shirt cuff showing underneath suit?

Hi y'all!

I'm getting a suit and dress shirt made from a tailor in town. He measured my sleeve length down to my wrist (25") and said he's going to make the suit sleeve shorter by 1/4" to get the shirt cuff to show underneath. Is that really enough though? I mean that assumes the shirt is lying perfectly flat and hasn't ridden up at all--same goes for the suit. Or am I just being paranoid. First time in the MTM department.

Thanks!

If your arm length measures 25" from your shoulder to your wrist, your shirt sleeve length needs to be longer than 25" so that it doesn't ride up when you bend your arm. The diameter of the shirt cuff should be narrow enough to prevent the cuff from dropping too low on your hand when the cuff is buttoned. Be sure to account for your watch if you wear one.

One general rule of thumb that I follow is that with the cuff unbuttoned, your shirt sleeve cuff should end about halfway between your wrist and the base of your thumb. YMMV of course. Does this make sense?

The suit sleeve can be adjusted a little bit if need be. When we do MTM we actually try a shirt, suit, pants etc and we can get a pretty good idea how something is going to fit and we can make those small incremental adjustments. I'd be a little leery if you're doing a MTM and didn't get to try out a garment that is based on that pattern.

If you're unsure of something, say something. I work with a guy that constantly puts MTM customers in a size too big because "I got fat, trust me, everyone else will so I'm getting them something that will last". And they honestly look like crap when they come in, and I know his customers don't say anything because they don't know any better.
