If you are cultivating a short beard/stubble, do you still shave your neck?

This is probably a stupid question.

Well the neck hairs constitute part of that beard. Not all of your neck hairs of course. It depends on how low you prefer it

I shave it somewhere above my collar, since anywhere lower than that and it'll get trapped when you move and hurt like ever-loving bejesus. The pulling is worse during the stubble phase, when they're pointy enough to get trapped.

always be sure to shave the neck beard. some dudes just get it bad

My barber/hair stylist has told me that if you are growing it out, keep it neatly trimmed, no neck hair and cleanly shaped around the cheeks and jaw.

I've kinda wondered this as well. If you're going for the perpetual 5 o'clock shadow look but don't want a neckbeard, how far up do you shave it, and what kind of shape?

the key is to make it look neat, without making it looked too kept. Clean up the bottom of the beard, but don't cut a perfect edge and leave it well below your jaw line to avoid the chin-strap look.

Yeah, I always have a constant 8 or 9 o'clock shadow. For God's sake, shave the neck beard. You may or may not also want to shave a little bit of the top of your beard (nearing the cheekbones) depending on how high your beard grows and what kind of face shape you have. Don't overthink it, but as with most anything, if you're really unsure whether it looks right... it probably doesn't.
