Brexit - Page 6

Considering the Irish were tending greater economic integration (yeah yeah, two currencies), anyone knows how this will fuck things up?

"Dragging us out of Europe will be to the detriment of all our citizens and will be bad for business, trade, investment, and wider society. I, and all Sinn Fein ministers will work to ensure the political institutions remain on a stable footing, but it is very difficult to put detailed contingencies in place until we know the extent of the impact of Brexit on our finances, our infrastructure and health services. All of that is still subject to a negotiation but the fact is that we are in unchartered waters. Sinn Fein will be seeking an urgent meeting with the Irish government, the European institutions and also with our counterparts in Scotland to discuss how we move forward in the best interests of all of our people."

Martin McGuinness, Deputy First Minister (Sinn Fein)

I voted for British independence smile.gif

1. I want foreign terrorists deported not locked up in British prisons at my expense

2. I want laws in my country written up by the politicians we elected democratically and pay high salaries to, not forced upon me by someone I never heard of somewhere in another country

3. I want skilled hard working immigrants to Britain to be welcome from anywhere in the world, not open borders to more benefit cheats who are legally allowed to then send these benefits to other countries

4. If the French can work a maximum of 35hrs per week and retire at 58 years old, why is a smaller member state like Britain paying more in to the EU? and why can't we have the same conditions?

5. If the young socialist people of Britain really wanted to stay in the EU they should have dragged their lazy mollycoddled middle class arses to the ballot box and made it happen.

6. I really hope the economic dip (which was inevitable) hits these greedy spoilt scrounging politically correct scumbags right in the bollocks, and our friends on the continent decide to free themselves like we have

Yes, I know this. Doesn't make it any less appropriate.

#10 Downing Street.

It's the official residence of the English Prime Minister.

I know it is not technically binding, but I find it a little astounding that that a decision this major is left to a simple majority.

Something like this seems like it would be along the lines of a constitutional amendment.

Going 52% to 48% is pretty rough. This isn't a single law, or a single election to a term-limited post....it is an irreversible change to the political makeup of a continent.
