I hope you all can help me I have really fine hair that curls when it gets long. I had it long and it was a mess the back one curl and the front would curl it didnt work I recently cut it short 1 1/2 inch and it looks better than it did long. I put gel in it which I dont know if its still in style. The problem with it short is that sometimes I look in the bathroom mirror where theres more light and I see my scalp I dont have any hair loss but I think its cause its so fine that it shows scalp. If I go medium I look like Jim Carrey off dumb and dumber. My question is is there any hair styles that work and look good with fine hair for guys who are skinny that are dirty blond? Do thicker hair guys get this scalp show? cause when my hair was long I dont have thinning hair. do all guys with short hair get this? and no one notices?

As it turns out, I have essentially the same hair; dirty blonde, thin but curls slightly when it gets long.
I actually have an excellent hair stylist, and after experimenting with several cuts, I've settled on a cut that is long on top and medium length in the back. The length helps put some weight on it, which keeps it from curling too much, and allows it to be pulled back. I don't like it long in the back, however, as it can look too ragged along the collar line.
Jim Carrey is a good reference point, he has the same type of hair. Most recent photo:

Too long, in my opinion, especially in the back. It's long enough on top to control, which is good, but because it's falling down straight it curls at the ends and in the back. Better to trim it up in the back a bit and pull the hair on top back or to the side.
Scalp showing is normal, especially if it's short. A heavier gel on short hair will minimize it, but don't worry about it too much. On longer hair, a little scalp showing along the part line is also normal.

Hello there. Your hair seems to be really fine. You could try thickening shamposs/conditionners + styling products which will not only add texture to your hair, but will also thicken them and provide them with fullness. For my part, I have really dark, thick hair, so as soon as I spike them, my scalp becomes apparent because it is white and contrasts with my hair. I use those thickening products and it quite helps. Ask your hair stylist for the best product that would suit your hair. I hope this has helped you.
