Should I Condition the Bottom of a Leather Outsole?

Here's a question I can't find the answer to anywhere I look.

Should I regularly condition the bottom of a leather soled shoe at all / just as often as I condition the upper of the shoe?

If I'm going to buy a pair of Crocket and Jones how should I treat the outsole?

I found 1 youtube video from Wolverine recommending applying conditioner to the bottom and edge of the outsole but this is the only place I have seen this done.

If you get a shoe shine, the only thing they apply to the outsole is edge dressing.

What do you recommend for taking care of the outsole of new and used shoes leather soled shoes?

Thanks!

Wear them.  They will wear out.  At which point, you will need to get them resolted.  That, or get them topied with vibram.  I can see you applying some edge dressing to the edges, but really, conditioning the bottom of a sole is an exercise in futility.

I'd say worse than an exercise in futility since applying conditioner may soften the soles and accelerate wear.
