My apologies if this has been discussed before. I recently came across in a thrift store a custom, hand made suit. Made in Hong Kong in 1971 but in immaculate condition except for a small moth hole on the inside of the lapel where it is not visible. The suit has a rather modern cut, not the angular, padded shoulders common on some old suits. About the only thing I see that would suggest it is old is the two button sleeve, the flat front pants, and finally the color, Royal Blue. My only concern is the color. I don't think I've seen a royal blue suit in recent years. My question: 1. What do you think about wearing a suit this color? Too out of date? The fit, with a couple of minor alterations is perfect, maybe a better fit than most of what I own or have tried on. The fabric is very nice and the quality of contruction is very evident. Second question relates to vintage clothing in general. It seems that if you want something distinctive in term of fabric, and color, along with quality hand tailoring, you can often find this in vintage 50's to 80's clothing. I have seen some very nice stuff. For instance today I saw a gorgeous gabardine topcoat. What do you guys think, is it worth it to buy this stuff, which by the way you can often "steal" at thrift and consignments shops. Would any of you.....do any of you wear any vintage clothing? (I don't means those dreadful double knits, bell bottoms, leisure suits of the 60's) but I mean the classics like you see on Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, and so many others in that era. These guys were sharp..
