Anyone here that own Hugo Boss Selection Tailored suits?

I know HB is a despised brand around here, but hear me out a bit:

From what I've gathered, they're supposed to be fully-canvassed (made by Regent in Germany) and usually have pretty nice fabrics. I once found a Super 180's "regular" HB Selection suit on sale, actually looked pretty nice. (Though half-canvassed) And I have to admit, the buttons were really nice looking. Up there with the $5k-$8k type of suits.

I see them (the tailored line) on Ebay from time to time, BNWT for around $300-$500. That's about as low as you can get for a BNWT fully-canvassed suit, from any reputable maker.

I have no experience with Regent though.

What's your experience with the tailored line?

Moving this to "Menswear Advice", where you might get more looks and better answers.

I think most of the reason why Boss is despised on this board, is because of the pricing policy that the company has. Boss is incredibly expensive in US, and the value for money is low... You are much better off getting a suit from some of the US brands, or even italian brands who doesnt have the same pricing policies as Boss.

Selection is not anylonger a part of the Boss brand, likewise Baldessarini (another old Boss special)

You have the normal premium Boss Black line(1000 dollar-1200 suits). This line carries two specials, which are Tailored (~1600-2000 dollar suits) and Made to Measure (This is similar to a bespoke price. ~3000 dollars and up) Made to Measure is not an option in US atm.

I personally have Boss Tailored, Canali, Pal Zileri and Corneliani which came at approximately the same price - and I am as happy with Boss as I am with the others, however, this is European prices. I am pretty confident that you can get something better at a department store in US when there are great sales, and look into the italian brands or perhaps BB?

Obviously the tailored line is partially canvassed, have fully functional buttonholes etc - Loro Piana fabrics are usually prefered... :-)

My kindest regards,
Simone

I totally agree with the general low value for money buying a boss suit today...

Anyway about a decade ago I bought a Boss selection suit. It was on sale and I didn't know much about suits/menswear. The fabric is delightful (smooth textured midnight blue) and with minor alteration the suit fits very well. The overall quality is very good... but not so good compared to my more recent pal zileri, corneliani, Isaia, Lardini, Caruso, d'avenza...

I still wear this suit from time to time, when I have to wear a suit and there is a serious risk of ruining it. Considering the rough condition it had to face and its good health, I must admit it is a pretty sturdy suit that still looks fine
