what, if anything can be done about the big crease? Perhaps they are beautiful the way they are.I have read almost all the posts(3 days it took) and perhaps I missed it. Apologies if I did. These are Polo C&J i picked up at Goodwill.

These are the before pics . Any advice on polishing is most appreciated

get them on really snug shoe trees then start working the leather with a cleaner/conditioner from Allen Edmunds. You can put them in a very warm part of the house for 30 minutes before you begin working with them, you will get results much faster, but you have to give them a good conditioning every day or so for a week, then polish and see what you have. Putting sole edge dye on will freshen them as well. Lastly, get proper laces. I would go to brooks brothers or some of the guys on here go so far as to buy some kind of specialty lace, I think it is a flat lace??

This is quite normal and natural and would happened had you bought a new pair rather than second hand. Wear and enjoy them if you value the things.
