Advice - office wear in a casual environment

I've spent most of my career working in a corporate environment. My standard 'uniform' is a tailored three piece suit.

I am about to start a new job. It's a very young company, with very casual dress code (mostly jeans and t-shirts).

I need to find myself a new uniform. It needs to be smart, but not a suit. I am not ready to dress down to t-shirt level.

I like to wear much the same thing day to day.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

What do you wear on weekends?

I work in high tech, not engineering, and am in light to unstructured sport coats ~3x a week - no one else is, but I own my look and no one is rattled by it.

I live in a place with 4 real seasons, and probably have too much for clothes - I probably could wear 100% linen for a week.

No ties, and I keep suits out of the rotation - I am not inclined to go tieless in a suit

Weekends I am usually in jeans and either t-shirts or casual shirts.

What trousers do you wear with your sports jackets? And shoes?

And for the shirt, presumably top button undone?

Cotton/linen , linen, mainly in spring and summer.

Fall/winter , pincord, flannel and some donegal wool.

Basically, nothing that looks like it is part of a suit.

I probably don't need any more shoes.

A lot of loafers - mid brown suede is a staple, have them in navy suede, tan and darker brown calf.

Other footwear returns to the rotation in the fall.

Collar and maybe one button unbuttoned. No french cuffs.

Thank you, all useful input.

My standard shirt is a white twill spread collar with French cuffs. I am guessing you'd advise against that.

Hi, Welcome to the forum.

I'm moving your thread to menswear advice, where it may get a better reception, and also be of help to other newer members who might have a similar question.

I would definitely advise against that and any other shirt with French cuffs...too formal.  For trousers, get yourself some cords, chinos, linen, etc.  For shirts, get some oxford cloth button downs and a few checked patterns in various fabrics.  Some nice boots (i.e., Alden chukka) or maybe a grained wingtip derby and you'll be set.
