Church Ryder 3 - Maracca vs Brown versatility

I have wanted to buy these after I discovered this forum many years ago but couldn't justify it and bought a cheaper pair of boots instead (Loake Pimlico in Brown Suede). The Loakes are decent enough shoes but the capital last is a bit "formal" and sometimes feel out of place with the rest of my outfit. I like the round toe of the Ryders.

Now I have a pair of brown chukkas I'm wondering if I would be better off buying a different colour for greater versatility or does the lighter colour of the maracca limit my trouser options? I would ideally like to wear these all year round.

Trouble is I like them both and can't decide. Cant embed the images but this is a link to their site which shows both colours.

I have a pair of the Saharas, which are the summer, unlined, version of the Ryder.

Certainly, the darker pair affords more "smart casual" options.  For example, they could probably more easily be worn with slim charcoal trousers.

That said, the lighter colored pair will pair very well with denim and with chinos.

Frankly, I personally like the lighter color, but if you want something that will look smart with a lot of outfits up to and including "business casual' or "smart casual", the darker pair might work better.  They will also hide dirt better, which may be a non-trivial concern.

Thanks LA guy for replying.

I was actually concerned about the lighter colour showing dirt easier and the consequential darkness after spraying invulner or nano protector so it's not trivial.

I recently bought a navy herringbone sport coat which I intended to wear with these shows. I know tan and navy suits are a no-no but does the same rule apply to sport coats?

I have both (the brown on dainite and the maracca on crepe). I like both but the Maracca pair are the most casual and really for me only fit with jeans. The brown pair are more formal but not as much as the Pimlico, they are though also much heavier than the Loakes and the Church's on crepe it seems to me.

As long as your trousers are not also navy, and are a lighter color, like a lighter grey or cotton chino, you are good to go.  I mean, chukkas don't really do with suits anyway. But a sportcoat, chinos and chukkas.  A pretty classic combination, and usually works as long as everything fits well.
