What shirt with this blazer

Not sure if this is a blazer or a sports coat.

I got it for $20 in Salvation Army (new, original price below). Wondering color/pattern shirt to pair with it (pictures/links preferred since words might not do it for me). For pants I'm using tan khakis so the shirt would have to work with them too.

It's a sport coat; blazers are solid.  Something like this or any blue oxford would work http://www.brooksbrothers.com/Regent-Fit-Button-Down-Collar-Dress-Shirt/132Q,default,pd.html

A ecru or light blue would go well. I had one made that looks pretty similar in color and pattern from BB but I mostly wear it in the fall and winter.

Thanks, so no pattern on the shirt then?

You can do a pattern dress shirts just watch the scale and color of the shirt. Remember : "greater or less than in pattern and scale."

I would personally wear the sportcoat, with a solid color. But I think that's also just me, not liking patterned shirts at all... Oxford button down shirts would be great! I believe some brands carry them in "dressy" versions aswell :-)
I'd probably wear it with white and blue!

A patterned shirt could work. But it'd be a very tricky thing to do well.

Rule of thumb - If you have to ask, you lack the expertise to pull off this virtuoso move. Stick with the enormously safer option and go for a solid color.

I think this ^^ is terrific advice & I've started researching it. It would be fun to play the "matching game" in this n00b area to see if I'm getting it!

I'm sure you're right, for now I'll stick to solid.

I thought the lighter one was better here;

Between brown & black belts, thought the brown was better;

Am I on track at all here?

If I am on track, is this still wearable this time of year, or should I put away until fall/winter?

You are tracking true with the brown belt and I hope the matching shoes? You can go with Oxblood, Walnut, and brown as far as shoes as long as the belts match the shoes.

Yes, shoes match.

You can wear it whenever you like. The colors are more of a fall tone however, with a pair of light colored pants you can pull it off. I own 9 sport coats 3 blazers and too many suits so I "might" have more options than maybe you which means I can be more selective with my colors and fabrics. Have fun and develop your own sense of style.
