I'm disappointed. This is the STYLEFORUM! How bout some clothes that make you look good, show off your muscles, get the attention of the ladies, and are good to work out in. If I wanted to look like this:

I'd ask this question in the Men's Health forums.

actually surprised at the number of people who said "just a cotton tshirt and sweatpants". i'm not obsessed with "looking good" at the gym or outdoors running/riding, but i sweat a LOT while doing cardio and anything cotton gets soaked, heavy and uncomfortable really fast. i have to use stuff that is moisture wicking like Dri Fit or their equivalents. also, since most of my sweat comes from my head, a headband under my helmet stops sweat from dripping into my eyes while on the road. finally, the compression shorts/tank tops actually have a bit of value because i feel that on an extended run they keep my muscles from getting jarred constantly and fatiguing sooner i guess this all can get too complicated, but i think this stuff does help if you don't mind being a little fussy.

I'm just as happy running in a cotton t-shirt as a synthetic one, provided the shirt is close fitting. A loose cotton t-shirt, wet with sweat, is heavy and uncomfortable; a close fitting one is just fine. I don't find that I'm significantly cooler in the synthetic, moisture-wicking stuff, and I like the feel of cotton.

For winter, though, you need clothes to wick moisture (I like merino wool). And I`m not a believer in compression shorts, but people do seem to like the compression socks for running.

Also will need a new pair of running shoes.

Any suggestions?

I just use any old tshirts I have with some old Champ shorts. I don't really care how I look at the gym. I wear these god-awful old shoes that are falling apart too, haha. Sometimes I'll just lift barefoot or in my socks.
