Slimming Suit Sleeves

Is it a bad idea or a good idea to have sleeves sliiiiiightly tapered if they are relatively large? Is the whole undertaking a bad idea?

I left my new suit at the tailor, and am trying to decide on if I should let him go through with tapering the sleeves.

Is this your first time using the tailor? If so, have you at least seen good work from him/her? It's really not something I'd let just any alterations tailor do. I've never had it done personally, but from what I've read it's not the simplest of jobs. If you've seen and/or had good work from the tailor, ask them what they think about it. My tailor isn't the greatest (she isn't bad either), but she's at least honest about what's she's capable of.

It's not the easiest and least expensive of alterations, so if the sleeves are so close to being okay that all they need is to be tapered "sliiiiiightly," I'd suspect they're close enough and I probably wouldn't bother messing with them.

If they're not that close to being okay, and the need for tapering is fairly substantial, I probably wouldn't have purchased the suit in the first place.

'Course, as you've provided no pictures, I can't speak to this specific case.

Thoughts? This is pre-alterations. The tailor said he won't get to the suit until next week. I have a very small taper being put in. The suit also has functioning button holes.

Please don't slim those sleeves! They are perfectly fine as is.

Leave the sleeve as-is. Hit the gym if you're looking for a skin tight fit.
