You've clearly never been anywhere near the (software) tech sector. I'm amazed some of my colleagues even manage pants.

As others have posted, it depends on the sort of business that one is in.

There are white collar workers and blue collar workers.  Workers who belong to trade unions are (like people in show business) are blue collar workers.  Workers who are mechanics (like those in the tech sector) are blue collar workers.

Try to view this as a challenge, or an opportunity to broaden your perceptions beyond your own industry / culture / etc. You'd be surprised how much business is conducted in the arts sector, or on casual Fridays, or in the entire republic of Iran for instance.

I was not referring to what people are actually wearing when going about their business. I was referring to what I consider appropriate to wear when going about one's (white collar) business. Of course I am aware of what most people are actually wearing. This does not mean I approve of it or copy it. Just because Zuckerberg et al. are making billions wearing flip-flops and hoodies I do not feel the urge to consider what they wear as appropriate business attire. And I also do not approve of casual Friday as a model to follow. Similarly I do not think hanging gays is an appropriate way to treat them just because it is done frequently in Iran, rather the opposite.

Please don't turn this into that discussion. This is Friday Challenge, OP sets the rules...
Topic is interesting, but should be taken elsewhere, IMHO.

Navy linen pants. Some people may wonder if this is really business appropriate but I can tell you that last summer we had four weeks of constant temperatures between 30-40 degrees here in Geneva, and this was a fully acceptable outfit then, even in official meetings. But of course I always add a tie...

Just imagine how much more money "Zuckerberg et al" would have if they wore a suit and tie rather than "flip-flops and hoodies".

So there it is: vote on the best execution of business-appropriate attire incorporating navy odd trousers and no tie.

Specific breakdown of rules:

1. Navy trousers: can be khaki, wool, orphaned suit pants, whatever. You won't be disqualified if they're some other variety of dark blue. Obviously no denim.

2. No neckties, bowties, or other corporate chokechains. Scarves are acceptible. Pocket squares are always welcome. Cravats/ascots will be singled out for ridicule.

3. Entries accepted until mignight ET on 4/29/2016. Poal goes up Saturday before noon.

Let's do this!

What's a "poal"?

Jacket: Brooks Brothers
Shirt: Luxire
Trousers: Suitsupply
Shoes: Meermin Mallorca
Pocket square and wrist beads: Homemade
Wristwatch: Omega[/quote]

Great fit. Love the jacket. I think the square is too bright though. It's much brighter than the rust in the jacket. Still quite awesome. Have I ever seen you wear a tie?
