I thought only girls go through photography phase...

No idea what that's supposed to mean.

I hand-develop and print my own film using an enlarger, all of which is located in the lab at school. Only B+W film however.

Is that expensive? I've wanted to get into it. We have some of the equipment, but my father has told me that unless you do it pretty often, the chemicals can go bad and be a waste of money.

Well, I'm friends with the head of the department so I get to use the lab for free, so I don't pay for chemicals, I just have to pay for paper and film. And yes, it can be an expensive proposition if you don't do it often / like it enough to stick with it and improve both your shooting technique and your printing skills.

I have my own darkroom with enlarger, chemicals, etc. and I prefer a European film that a now defunct company used to sell. However, good news is that it is now available again:

I used to go to a lab run by the city of San Francisco which was I think $50 a year. All you needed to bring was paper and they provided everything else IIRC. You might have needed the chems too I forget...But the main thing was that they had enlargers that were better than the ones at my schools lab (CCSF)...Unfortunately it might be rather hard to find a good lab like that anywhere but in a big city.

I'm not skilled or rich enough to shoot film so I use

As for movies, I've always loved pretty much anything James Bond. Thunderball is one of my favorites.
