Getting 'Scuffs' Out of Cordovan Leather

Thread Starter

I must admit I've never really dived into the whole 'shoe care' thing. I've bought and stuck with Cordovan leather, cleaned them very simply (but effectively) with water and a horsehair brush, and been very happy with the result. However, recently, a new office chair has begun to scratch the sides of some of my shoes and leave these 'scuff' marks on the sides (see below). Is there anything I can do about this? They scratches are not very deep, but fixing this is far beyond my current understanding of shoe care.

Any help would be appreciated as to products and methods I could use to fix this.

Thanks!

If the scratches are very superficial, then a good buffing with a horsehair brush should be able to erase them. For more persistent scratches, I would apply a pea sized amount of cordovan cream followed by a thorough buffing with either a brush or clean cloth.

Following the MAC method usually eliminates most scuffs and scratches.

Hope it helps!
