How to fix button fly distortion

I have never heard of a way to stretch out that space in the denim between the top button and the next button down that seems to not stretch proportionally with the rest of the jeans. Maybe this doesn't happen to other people, or maybe no one else cares, but I was just curious if anyone had any tricks for remedying this. I did a search and came up with nothing. Here's the problem:

Not really sure what you mean, but denim will generally stretch in any direction, to varying degrees, if you get it wet and pull hard enough.

I was waiting for someone to say that. (A) denim stretches, and since I don't wash my jeans often, I would like them to fit well after a few months wear, (B) these actually fit just fine everywhere else. They aren't uncomfortable, they just don't stretch well in that one area.

One of these could help:

Thanks, yeah, it helps distract from the gap between my buttons.

KMW is notoriously resistant to stretching, compared to most other jeans. Which model are those? If you put up a full pic we can get a better idea, but I don't see them stretching much in the hips.

Similar issue with my Somet's -- the fly pulls a little bit, revealing the contrasted denim underneath, though it's not really because they are tight on me (though I could lose a few pounds, maybe that will help). I may try ironing it.

Those are Rockers. I can get a better pic up soon, but it's not really convenient at the moment. I am having the same problem with a pair of Sliqs. I care far less about them, and since the denim is thin and cheap I don't picture it being very workable. However, I figure if I can remedy the situation, I would like to.

If you want it to go away then I'm pretty sure buying your true waist size is the only option. It should'nt strectch that much and by the time it does you probably need a wash.

It's probably due to the amount of layers of fabric and seams at that horizontal point of the pattern. I'd try wetting that area and stretching it... otherwise you could try sewing up the second buttonhole a bit to pull it together some.

I have the same "problem" (not really a problem but...) on a pair of ALD Royals that definetely ARE my true waist size. In that case it's mostly due to the fact that for some reason the area around the top button hole stretches very easily and distorts the area directly underneath. The only solution here would be either to stretch the complete top block (fits perfectly for me), soften up the fabric covering the buttons so it "drapes" better (however this might be possible) or just let it be like that and don't worry about it.
I guess this really only is a problem if the jeans as a whole looks really tight on you, giving the impression that you were just a bit too vain when buying that size...

Mabye kmw is prone to this because of the fly button arrangement. It seems like the gap between the waist and first fly button is larger than in other jeans, so there's less tension in that area. I have a pair of 1980s that has a milder case of pulling than the OP which I fixed by manually stretching, thus letting the unstretched denim "catch up". I'm tempted to add another button in place of that mule logo, but I don't know how.

What was your technique? Did you stretch them while wearing them?
