Working on Ideas for a Custom Suit for Special Occasions

I am starting this thread as the “ENZO CUSTOM CLOTHIERS NYC” thread is starting to go off topic.

Since last summer I have been working on Ideas for a suit for special occasions, such as parties and a night out on the town. Not something for office wear. My budget is a bit limited for most bespoke services I have access to, hence I use the term custom, as I don't expect to be able to afford a traditional bespoke experience (with multiple basted fittings, and copious amounts of hand sowing). I met with a local tailor but he was not much for helping me, and sent me on quest to provide my own fabric. So now after months of looking into fabrics, trying to find suppliers, reading up on everything I could to get the best fabric within my budget, I am not certain that he is the tailor for me but I have fairly strong ideas what I am looking for in a fabric. After searching through all the custom/bespoke tailors in Boston (where I live) and New York (I have family near New York so a trip there would be enjoyable on multiple levels), I found Enzo Custom Clothiers. They seem to be within my budget, and look like they are quite willing to help me express myself through style, fit, and fabric. They also do mention the possibility of suppling your own fabric on their website. The poll is mostly for fun. I am open to all comments. I would rather you kick my ego down to size than I waste money on a bad idea.

Anyway the short of it:

Budget: $1000 to $2000, aiming for the low end but willing to go to the high end if it means getting a better product, and more like what I would want. I am willing to buy MTM if I can get it in a fabric and a style that I want)

Location Constraints: Greater Boston and Greater New York area. Preferably near public transport. If there is somewhere else worth considering only a train ride (or three) away, I’ll look into it.

Time Constraints: Starting no sooner than this summer but being read for wear by early next year, though this is not being made for a specific even so time is very flexible.

Suit Purpose: For special occasions (parties) or to make an occasion special (night out on the town or what have you)

What I want in terms of style: I am torn between two styles. Either something almost exactly what David Gandy is wearing in the photograph (I found it at Parisian Gentleman, but it is by James Gourley), or something very much like the double breasted suit in the other picture (from the King & Allen Look-Book).

What I want it a fabric: I was thinking the Guabello "One Fifity" super 150s wool collection, with the sharkskin or glenplaid in a blue or grey. I’m willing to consider other fabrics, but would like to stick with a blue or grey with sharkskin or glenplaid.

The conversation so far: Seejulius is reccomending Scabal, Loro Piana, and Ermenegildo Zegna Electa over Guabello. I have taken a look (online) of the sharkskins in these fabrics but it looks like they retial for a lot more than the Guabello (but RTW stuff in them suggests if the house buys in bulk it may be within my budget)





Note for Shoe pairing: Justin Fitzpatrick Wedgwood in burgundy crust/suede and/or Septime Laguer Balmoral in black calf and grey suede. Also should have a Justin Fitzpatrick Westlake MTO on order soon. Unrelated note: Justin Fitzpatrick makes great shoes and it is a pleasure to deal with him (though only through email so far). Mathieu Priess, who I met without knowing, is also a great guy with a sense of style.
