Hello,
I'm fairly new to being classy and stylish (I'm looking to get my first couple suits, aside from the ill-fitting off-the-rack rags that I, like most men I suppose, settle for), and I've been thinking about this quite a bit.
I've scoured the internet looking at pictures of men in suits trying to get an idea of what looks good, and David Beckham and Daniel Craig, IMHO, are two most impeccably suited gents (I've also picked up that there is a degree of criticism towards the fit of Craig's suits in the James Bond films, but I will explain further in a moment).
According to google Craig is 5'10" and Beckham is 6'0", and generally speaking Craig has a much more heavily developed musculature, but there seems to be some common element(s) between them in the fit of their suits that I can't put my finger on. I imagine that the simple answer is that quality bespoke suits will look good on the man they're built for, but I've seen many men in nice, well-fitted suits that, somehow, simply don't look as good as Beckham and Craig. Since their body types are rather disparate (plus Craig seems to favor a single vent and Beckham double vents), I don't think that the two of them are just lucky in having a good shape for suits. Something about the shoulders and chest, and the way the back of the jacket drapes (many men seem to have a rumply mess in back), and in the fall of the trousers. Do they simply have excellent posture? Do they have the width of the knees nipped in just a tiny bit to complement the suppression at the waist? I've included a selection of images to hopefully help illustrate what I'm driving at. Again, I'm an utter novice to the world of looking sharp, so I apologize if I'm overlooking something obvious.
